Dimitri MASLENNIKOV
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Dimitri Maslennikov is a prodigious cellist who had already won 4 international grand prizes at the age of 13. He then left his country to study at the French cello school in Paris.
A soloist with an extraordinary charisma, Dimitri has a flexibility, harmonics and freedom which provides him an astounding “violin sound”… Conductors Yuri Bashmet, Kent Nagano, Vladimir Spivakov invite him, Yuri Temirkanov develops a major partnership with him in Asia, Christoph Eschenbach has him play extensively and makes two major records with him in Germany.
